Cenderawasih Bay

July 20-30, 2027
We had THE BEST TIME on the Coralia in 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 we're doing it again in 2027!
This time: Cenderawaish Bay!
Hop on board the beautiful Coralia Dua liveaboard. The Coralia Dua is a classic Phinisi and the sister ship of the Coralia. It was built in South Sulawesi by the Konjo tribe, who have been building cargo ships for centuries. Blending ancient techniques and wisdom with modern design and safety features, Coralia Dua is one of the few Phinisi equipped with two engines. Follow along as Coralia Dua's interior is completed (@coralia_liveaboard or Coralia Liveaboard)
Coralia’s name comes from the word ‘coral‘ and the Latin ending of ‘-ia’, so ‘Coral-ia‘ means ‘Nation of Corals’.
While Coralia Dua is currently being built, The Coralia has won the Dive Travel Awards "Best Liveaboard" in 2019, 2021, 2024, 2025. The level of care, comfort, & luxury will be the same (and likely even more luxurious) on Coralia Dua.
Diving in Cenderawaish Bay offers an exciting variety of remote dive sites and experiences, including whale sharks! Many previous trips to Cenderawaish Bay had multiple whale shark encounters, some trips up to 9-10 encounters and IDing many different whale sharks.
Our itinerary will take us to dive sites in and around the national park that borders Cenderawaish Bay, great for critter hunting, large schools of fish, beautiful hard & soft corals, fish endemic to the area, and a highlight of the trip: whale sharks. click here.
Tentative Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival into Manokawi, board the Coralia Dua, settle into cabins, unpack dive gear/camera gear, boat briefing and dive briefing. Relax and enjoy the views as we head towards Pulau Purup as our first stop.
Day 2: Diving begins! Today we'll start off with an easy check out dive first thing in the morning. Return after diving for big breakfast. Mid- morning head out for dive 2, lunch, followed by an afternoon dive, and depending on our transit schedule a possible night dive.
Day 3-10 Diving & snorkeling with whale sharks continues in Cenderawaish Bay. As the week progresses we'll make a roundtrip, diving and traveling to the south in the bay and visiting additional untouched dive sites on our way back north to Manokwari . We will spend ample time at Kwatisore Bay with the whale sharks, and ultimately winding up back in Manokwari Harbor to dive a couple of WWII Japenese wrecks.
Day 11: We'll say our "Good Byes" and disembark the Coralia Dua for the Manokawri Airport. You'll be ready to book your next trip on Coralia Dua after an amazing trip!

Getting to Komodo:
To/From North America:
Travel to Indonesia is typically flown via Tokyo or Hong Kong or other Asian gateway cities (depending on the airline) and connecting onward to Jakarta (CGK). Sometimes you'll find routings from the east coast through the Middle East (Doha/Abu Dhabi, etc)
Arrival into Jakarta by July 19, 2027 (late afternoon at the latest).
It is recommended to arrive in a day prior to your flight to Manokawi. The Anara airport hotel is recommended if arriving a day or two early into Jakarta.
Flights to Labuan Bajo:
Connect onward to Manokawi (MKW). Currently Batik and Lion Air fly nonstop to Manokawi. We'll update this information in late 2026/early 2027 when flight schedules are available.
You will be met by Coralia Dua staff who will bring you directly to the boat from the airport. If you'd like to arrive in Manokawi a day before, you are more than welcome to. The suggested hotel is the Aston Manokawi, close to the airport. The Coralia Dua staff will pick you up from the hotel or airport and bring you to the boat on July 20, 2027.
Departure on July 30, 2027 can be at anytime. The Coralia Dua staff will bring you back to the airport for your departing flight. If you are continuing onto another resort or elsewhere in the area, just let us know so we can coordinate with the Coralia Dua team.
Please keep in mind, flying on early morning flights departing from Manokawi will restrict the number of dives you will be able to do on the last full day on board. Generally there will be two morning dives on the last day finishing up around 12pm.
The western part of the bay is a Marine National Park. Cenderwaish Bay means Birds of Paradise Bay in Indonesian.
Remote area with pristine reefs in West Papua, Indonesia. (Not to be confused with Papua New Guinea).
This area consists of Indonesia's furthest eastern ocean, any further east and one would be in Papua New Guinea waters.
The Japanese were here during WWII, good wreck dives on a Japanese freighter.
The Pacific Ocean is at the mouth of the bay, which is inviting for larger pelagic life to visit this area.
This area has also become known for birders. Birds of Paradise sightings!
Much of the local communities & villages are the same as they have been for the past one hundred years, with very little access to the "outside" world.
The diving is varied! We'll experience wrecks, muck dives, deep beautiful wall dives with ample fish life, lots of hard & soft corals, and more!
The official language is Bahasa Indonesia. Although there are over 300 different native languages spoken in Indonesia.
